Winter is coming! The weather is getting colder and we will likely be staying in more often. Which means FOOD! One of our favorite winter activities is cooking and eating….well mainly eating if we’re being honest. Huddling around the fireplace, with a drink in our hands, covered with a warm blanket, and munching on something to help us stay warm. However, not all food is good for winter. We have to choose very wisely what to eat and what to avoid. Read on to learn more about the best foods to keep you warm this winter. The last item on the list will definitely surprise you!

We recommend you include the following items in your meals; they have been scientifically proven that they raise the human body temperature. They are also very good for your health, increasing your metabolism and your immune system.

Ginger

Ginger is one of our favorite food items. We recommend it all year around for its tremendous health benefits. Ginger has been scientifically proven to be THE best ingredient to help you stay warm during the winter. Why? Ginger has thermogenic properties that keep the body warm, increase metabolism and blood flow.

How to best use it: add ginger slices to your tea and shredded ginger in your soup and stew.

We all love a bit of spice in our food. This winter, be generous with the pepper and try to make it a bit spicier. Chili pepper is full of antioxidants that warm the body, help cure colds and fevers. On top of that, we all love that burning hot sensation we feel when we eat spicy food.

Well, that was a surprise! We usually leave iced coffee for hot summer day right? However, studies have shown that the temperature of coffee doesn’t matter when it comes to keeping us warm. All you need is the caffeine (Amen!). Caffeine is known to boost our metabolism by stimulating fatty acids from our body fat, which will increase the body temperature.
