Cutthroat Chef J: from TV to your Kitchen!

One of my favorite shows to watch to decompress is Cutthroat Kitchen on the Food Network. Alton Brown hosts this show; first, giving each cheftestant 25k in cold hard cash, then dishing out culinary challenges while upping the ante by auctioning off the ultimate sabotages. Have you ever watched a chef be forced to make a chopped salad with a weed whacker? Now you can! Imagine my surprise when I see a smiling, familiar face– Chef J!

The premise of the show, as described by the Food Network is as follows,

Just how far is a chef willing to go to win a cooking competition? Cutthroat Kitchen hands four chefs each $25,000 and the opportunity to spend that money on helping themselves or sabotaging their competitors. Ingredients will be thieved, utensils destroyed and valuable time on the clock lost when the chefs compete to cook delicious dishes while also having to outplot the competition. With Alton Brown as the devilish provocateur, nothing is out of bounds when money changes hands and we see just how far chefs will go to ensure they have the winning dish.

First of all, bravo Chef J (aka Mr. Foodtastic, more on him here and here)! Readers, we strongly recommend that you watch this episode. If you haven’t seen Cutthroat Kitchen before, this episode is the perfect one to watch! We don’t want to give away all of the sabotages. But let me put it this way, Chef J had his work cut out for him! The episode aired on January 31st and is titled “When Cherry Met Salad”. You won’t be disappointed.

If you want to catch Chef J live in-action, book him through his chef profile and voila! He may just appear in your kitchen. One thing is for sure– you know he is strategic and resourceful! Just imagine what he can do with a knife, rather than a manual weed whacker.
