Tomato Tulips

For this savoury treat you will need grape tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes will work fine), some cream cheese, and chives. You have the option to flavour your cream cheese with your choice of seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, basil, oregano, chili powder. Careful, do not to add too much seasoning; as we want to keep the white colour of the cream cheese.  You will also need a sharp knife or a metal skewer.

Place the tomato stem side down and begin by making an X-shaped incision into each one of your tomatoes. The cut should be ¾ down the stem making sure not to cut all the way through. Next, make a small hole for the chive (the stem of the rose) using the metal skewers. Then empty out the seeds from the tomato. Season the cream cheese and add the mixture into the tomatoes. Assemble the chives and the tomatoes; group them in a serving dish in the form of a bouquet.

Strawberry Roses

For the strawberry roses, the process is a bit trickier. You will ruin a few strawberries along the way. Place the strawberry stem side down.  Using a small sharp knife cut the strawberry at the bottom making sure you don’t cut all the way through. And then turn the strawberry around making small incisions. Follow the video below for clearer instructions.

Pineapple and Grape Bouquet

The pineapple and grapes sunflower is also fun for kids. You will need some wooden skewers, a cookie cutter (in the shape of a flower), green and purple grapes (preferably seedless) and pineapples. Begin by slicing the pineapples into circles and remove the hard center. Then use the cookie cutter to get a nice flower shaped pineapple. Next, insert the green grapes into the skewer leaving a place at the top for the pineapple. Finally, carefully insert the pineapple and the purple grape as shown in the picture below.
