Flashbacks from Berlin

Many small people, who in many small places, do many small things that can alter the face of the world.

I landed in Berlin at 10 pm after a long day of flights. I must admit it wasn’t the most pleasant plane ride I’ve been on. But as soon as we stepped down on German grounds, we knew we’re in for a ride. I always travel with the same group of friends, and we have the time of our life on every trip. But this time, we knew something was different.

We couldn’t put our finger on it. Was it the history? The culture? The people? But I mean every country we’ve visited so far had those features. So what was it about Berlin that had us fascinated?

We were told time and time again before we traveled that we will love the city. We will love the people, the food, the nightlife, the art scene, the architecture. And my were they right.

Our hotel was in the middle of Alexandreplatz, one of the busiest areas in Berlin! The view from our room overlooked the towering TV station that can be seen from all parts of the city. We could basically walk everywhere, and that’s exactly what we wanted to do. What better way to explore a city other than getting lost in its streets amongst its people? In my opinion, that’s the best tourism you can possibly do.TV station

Walking around made us realize that it was the first time we visit such a historic city. True, most European cities are filled with history, but Berlin is something else. Even the traffic lights have history incorporated in their design and lights. The East German “Ampelmann”, which was psychologically conceived to make road-users react more quickly to appealing symbols, showed the divide between the East and West in the past. The graffiti on every wall told a story that can write books. The streets still had the remains of the Berlin wall which tells you exactly which side of Berlin you are standing on. The photo booths placed on every street helped us capture the moment and relive the memory of our trip.Berlin Cathedral

Berlin is a city that is always changing and progressing. That was seen with all the different construction sites and new rails being built. The different areas of the city each represented its own downtown, with its own unique identity. The graffiti and drawings on the Berlin wall alone showed the progress of the people and the inspiration it brought to them. How could they make a wall that was so hated, become such a beautiful site to see? We were stopping on every drawing, reading it and trying to understand what was meant behind its colors and words.Berlin Wall

I wont go into detail of all the tourist attractions that you should visit. Because let’s face it, no one can do a better job at that than tripadvisor. But I will tell you one thing about the city. I didn’t have a meal on any day that I didn’t want to have over and over again. The taste of Berlin tickled our taste buds. We didn’t only try German food, but every cuisine there was just amazing.

Now we know it’s not easy for you to travel to Berlin any time you want. So we have your back. It’s pretty easy to get a taste of Berlin right in the comfort of your home. All you have to do is log on here, and hire one of our Chefs in Berlin or anywhere across the world! Don’t you just love that?
