Happy Banana Bread Day!

Happy Banana Bread Day, CXC community! Banana Bread Day is celebrated on the 23rd of February of every year. There’s no better way to celebrate this day other than enjoy a delicious slice of Banana Bread with a cup of tea or coffee. I don’t usually eat bread, but when it comes to banana bread, I am weak! The combination of mashed, ripe bananas and a cake-like batter mixed with nuts and cinnamon is what makes banana bread stand out!

Where did Banana Bread come from?

Banana Bread became popular during the Great Depression era in 1930’s. History suggests that housewives created Banana Bread recipes in order not to waste over-ripe bananas. I honestly believe that it is the best and most delicious creation ever! Even though it is known as bread, for me it is more like a cake texture and flavor.

Banana Bread is extremely easy to make and also very nutritious. It’s a very quick-bake if you have friends over or if you want to make a healthy dessert for your kids. The combination of flour, sugar, eggs, and banana provide a great source of energy. In 1918, this recipe was printed in the Maui News, which included: 2/3 banana, 1/3 c. flour, yeast, coconut milk or water- the recipe has changed a great deal since then. Modern-day banana breads also include nuts, chocolate chips, eggs, baking soda, and sometimes oats.

We have tried many Banana Bread recipes and experimented a lot until we came up with this amazingly, delicious, moist recipe!

How to serve it?

With cup of tea or coffee:

Fresh Banana Bread with a hot cup of coffee or a hot cup of cinnamon peach tea with honey in the cold winter morning is to die for!

With butter and jam:

Substitute the normal toast with a slice of whole-wheat banana bread with nuts for breakfast. Add jam on top if you have a sweet tooth.

With cream cheese:

If you’re more of a cream cheese person, heat up the slice of banana bread a little bit and spread cream cheese on top for extra deliciousness!

With caramelized bananas & honey:

Cut bananas into small slices, heat them up in a saucepan, and add brown sugar until they are caramelized. Add the caramelized warm banana on your banana bread slice and top it off with honey!
