ICYMI: ChefXchange DC Launch Event

It’s been a week since our inaugural event in DC. We are still riding the high of sharing our platform with you all! Here are some of the highlights of our food photography-filled evening:

Marc Washington, Co-founder and Megumi Reagan, Community Manager, hosted our inaugural event with the support of 5 ChefXchange private chefs and a group of amazing volunteers.

Crowd Favorite Chef: Chef Ayah

Chef Ayah and her Sous Chef for the evening, Chef Michael

The feedback on all of our featured chefs was overwhelming. One of our private chefs–Chef Ayah— came out on top, winning the title of “Crowd Favorite Chef” of the evening. Her food continued to disappear throughout the night as soon as she put it on display. She wowed everyone with her Crab Risotto Croquettes served with warm salsa dipping sauce, Sticky Date Pudding with caramel drizzle and brûlée crystals & Lemon Dover Sole stuffed with mushroom duxelles with lemon beurre blanc served with whipped potato rosettes.

Chef Ayah is your chef for hire in the Washington, DC area and is ready to literally bring the world to your plate. She’s a third generation chef whose specialties include, but are certainly not limited to, American, French and Middle Eastern cuisine! You can book her here.

Crowd Favorite Dishes: by Chef

It’s hard to choose which dish of each chef was our favorite. Here’s what we think, but feel free to shout out your faves in the comments section below.

Chef Ayah stole the hearts of all dessert lovers with her Sticky Date Pudding with caramel drizzle and brûlée crystals. Remember those cookies that you devoured with no shame from the swag bag? The wedding cookies? Yep, those were hers too!

Chef Dadisi offered up some very delicious Creole Shrimp ‘n Grits. He dazzled the crowd with his gourmet comfort food and equally as engaging personality.

Chef Kari’s crepes with bacon, gruyere, spinach and mushroom were all the rave! Imagine these at your next brunch with friends! She also created a delicious vegan/gluten-free dessert (sweet potato bars in gingerbread crust). She’s great at catering to specific dietary requirements.

Chef Giovanni created a dessert en verrine that was mouthwatering good! He layered his creation with white chocolate mascarpone, passion fruit & Godiva dark chocolate peanut soil. The flavors and textures were perfect!

Chef Linda impressed all of us with a sweet tooth with her apple strudel bites! Linda is also your go-to Kosher Chef!

Crowd Favorite Display: Chef Giovanni

Chef Giovanni in action

Chef Giovanni is not only creative in the kitchen, but outside as well! We were all taken by the display that he built to showcase his dessert en verrine. Chef Giovanni has an eye for design–he’s known for his creative methods of displaying his edible art. He utilized dry ice for a special effect at the beginning of our event.
