I always hated bananas, until I had them frozen!

As you were growing up, I’m sure you all heard the same advice from your elder relatives regarding bananas and their magical fruit properties. There’s no arguing that bananas are packed full of health benefits. Let me share with you a game changer–from a person who struggled to eat a bite of a banana, to someone who craves one frequently.

Eat a banana, it’s high in potassium!!

There are a lot of powerful reasons to eat bananas:

  • Bananas help fight depression and can give you an energy power-up before your workouts.
  • Two bananas a day can prevent muscle cramps and build up bone structure with the supplementary calcium.
  • Bananas regulate blood sugar, reduce swelling, protect against diabetes, and strengthen the nervous system.
  • Its iron content also assists in making your blood stronger.
  • Finally, since it retains a high level of potassium and is low in sodium, bananas lower blood pressure and protect against sudden heart attacks.

What a loss! I hate bananas …

Wait! Have you tried them frozen?? If not, you are not only missing out on its benefits, but also amazing flavors. The secret of these delectable frozen bananas is that they are draped in chocolate and then garnished with whatever you’d like (sprinkles, cereal, nuts…)!

This treat emerged in the 1940’s in Newport Beach, California and it became a staple.  That affordable, icy dessert was served in a stand for decades. You might have stumbled upon it watching the Prime TV series “Arrested Development” that starred the wealthy owners of that stand in Balboa Island, The Bluth Family.

Don Phillips – The Frozen Banana King – was the first owner of a successful stand called: The Original Frozen Banana, located on the side of the Peninsula right before tourists board the ferry! He trusted no one in preparing the bananas but himself and mother-in-law. Now it’s time to discover the secret recipe…
