Best Italian Bruschetta Recipe

Bruschetta is a Italian antipasto consisting of bread, garlic rub and olive oil.

It has many variations but today’s Italian Bruschetta Recipe is one of my favorites.

Bruschetta is great as an appetizer or a snack and it is very versatile.

It can be simple or complex, it can be meat or vegetarian.

The variations are almost limitless.

Don’t let the simplicity of this recipe fool you

This recipe is packed with flavor

To start, pre-heat the oven to 180C

Cut the tomatoes in quarters and remove the seeds

Dice the tomatoes about 5mm

Transfer the tomatoes to a plastic container and add the olive oil

Season with maldon salt and freshly ground black pepper and reserve

Slice the sour dough bread to about 1.5cm thick

put the bread on a tray and into the oven for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown

While the bread toasts, peel the garlic and cut the bottom off (about 2mm)

As soon as the bread comes out of the oven rub in the garlic, using the bottom

Be generous as the bread should get a nice amount of garlic flavor

Add a generous amount of the tomato and olive oil to each slice of bread

Make sure to add some of the liquid as well

To finish top with a slice or two of culatello

You can add a few basil leaves if you wish, I personally prefer without.

Culatello is the best of the cured meats and if you cannot find it you can substitute for Prosciutto or Jamon
