Top 7 Tips To Host A Stress Free Dinner Party

Tip 1: Plan, Plan, Plan

Diary

Don’t leave everything to the last minute, otherwise, you’ll wake up on the day of the dinner and realise you have to clean your house, buy the groceries and do all the cooking as well at getting yourself ready.

Tip 2: Just a Quick Clean

Cleaning

Give your house a quick once over the night before, you’d be amazed at how much you can clean in 30 minutes.  And really, does your whole house need to be cleaned?  No, just do the areas that your guests will see, the kitchen, the dining room, the lounge, the hall and the bathroom.  They’re not going to go snooping through your bedrooms.

Tip 3: Leave the Decoration

Corridor

Don’t decorate your room, keep it the way it is, just fluff up your pillows on your sofa.

Tip 4: Simple Table Laying

Table

Keep your table simple, there’s no need to go out and buy a completely new set of crockery or spend hours folding napkins.  Buy a couple of bunches of the same flowers and set them in simple vases in the centre of the table.  Use a white tablecloth, whatever table mats and coasters you already have.  Use your current crockery and cutlery, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the same set for everyone, it makes your dinner party look quirky.  Then finish off the table with paper or material napkins.  Keeping the table simple will draw peoples eyes to the flowers and the food itself, that’s what people are there for anyway.

Tip 5: Leave The Music to the Professionals

iPhone Music

Find a relaxing playlist on YouTube or Spotify, instrumental music is the best, leaving no distraction from the conversation.

Tip 6: Don’t Go Overboard on the Drinks

Cheers

Just offer a few different drinks to your guests, there’s no need to make everyone cocktails, you won’t be able to spend any time with your guests if you do.  Just have a selection of wine, beer, and soft drinks, you can even open some bubbly as your guests arrive.  Let your guests know where the drinks, glasses, and ice are so that they can refill their glasses themselves, letting you spend time with your guests.
