Top Summer Barbecue Tips with Chicken Marinade Recipe

We love barbecues here at ChefXChange! There’s nothing like hearty burgers and hot dogs enjoyed in the open air with friends and family – everything just tastes so much better eaten outside and we can pretend we live in Australia for the day! We’ve rounded up some of our top summer barbecue tips from our London Private Chefs.

Top Summer Barbecue Tips with Chicken Marinade Recipe

Mix up your Guest List

One of the best things about barbecues it that they’re very relaxed, informal occasions. This means they’re a great chance to invite friends who don’t know each other very well, so they can get chatting in a laid back setting without feeling awkward! So next time you host a BBQ, maybe break out from your usual guest list and mix things up a bit. If you feel you need something to help strangers break the ice, go old school and have a pinata or a game like Pin the Tail on the donkey – yes it’s corny, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun! Your guests will be yabbering away like old friends in no time – you might be surprised at who gets along best.

Balance the Barbecue Menu

We love meat, especially barbecued meat. However, remember that some of your guests might be vegetarian, on diets or have food intolerances. Rather than sticking purely to meat, vary it a bit by offering salads, crudités, dips, crusty bread and even barbecued veg and fish, so there’s something for everyone! You might even be in the mood for some greens yourself after three or four burgers… For dessert, fruit salad or strawberries and cream are healthy, easy and stick with the summery vibe.

  4. 1/2 tsp Paprika
  5. Salt & Pepper
  6. 8 Chicken Drumsticks
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.

  4. Add the paprika and salt and pepper to taste.
  5. On a chopping board pierce holes in all of the drumsticks, about 7 per drumstick, this allows the sauce the go through the chicken making it tastier.
  6. Add the chicken to the bowl and mix the chicken and the sauce together using your hands, make sure the sauce goes over all of the chicken.
  7. Leave for a few hours or overnight if you can, if not put in a deep baking tray and cook.
  8. After 20 minutes of cooking drain the juices into a jug and pour over the chicken.
  9. After another 20 minutes of cooking drain the juices into a jug again, sear the chicken on the BBQ and drizzle the sauce over the top before serving.
