What’s Cooking in DC? The MetroCooking DC Event!

Our ChefXchange team in Washington, DC loves to be on top of F&B events in the area. This coming weekend (October 24-25) there is an event that we absolutely can’t wait to attend—and hope we see you there—The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show aka MetroCooking DC.

Location: Walter E. Washington Convention Center

The last time I was at the Convention Center was for the 2015 Library of Congress National Book Festival. My sister was invited there to be a featured Children’s book author! (Ahem, Jean Reagan). I am an avid reader and hit each and every one of the bookstore sections in the Grand Pavilion: Children’s, Non-Fiction, Cooking, you name it! As I was walking (hiking) around the Pavilion, I couldn’t help but think, “Man, wouldn’t it be great to have a huge F&B event in this space?”. Clearly, I’m an avid eater too! Here’s the event I’ve been wishing for:

Whether you’re an aspiring home cook or expert entertainer, the two-day culinary extravaganza provides a one-of-a-kind experience for all food and entertaining enthusiasts.

Enjoy cooking demos and book signings with top Celebrity Chefs. Sample from over 50 local restaurants in the Grand Tasting Pavilion. Wash down your fare with a local brew from the beer, wine and spirits garden. Learn new techniques and tips in the Tasting & Entertaining Workshops. Sharpen your skills in the pop-up cooking school. Meet your favorite James Beard award-winning chef and see them whip up delicious dishes live on the James Beard Stage.

Plus, shop from hundreds of specialty food vendors in the exhibitor marketplace! Chances are, you’ll discover a new favorite hot sauce!

Events: Where to start?

We urge you to check out the website for the schedule of the event weekend. We’re still trying to figure out our strategy… and how to catch a glimpse of Giada De Laurentiis!

On the 25th, the Tasting Pavilion will be open for attendees.

Sample and sip exclusive, hand-picked bites from 50 of Washington’s hottest restaurants – for a good cause! A portion of proceeds from the Grand Tasting will benefit Educated Eats. Educated Eats is committed to promoting the restaurant and food service industry as a career of unlimited opportunity.
