How did the Chef learn how to cook and what is his story?

My mum was my biggest inspiration as she was a well known chef in the Maldives - especially for local cuisine but even doing catering & cakes for various functions. Thus having grown up in an environment of fine food and commercial cooking, I started getting involved in cooking at the tender age of 7 or 8 years old, although I was more in the way than being able to do much! Thus my passion for cooking and food led it to being my profession although it is difficult to describe it as a 'job' when you enjoy cooking for someone else as much as cooking at home for yourself and for your loved ones! From my early culinary trainings in Australia to United States, the foodie in me has allowed me to travel the globe, learning from some of the true masters and discovering the never ending gastronomic possibilities and creating some of my own. Having had a diver international culinary journey expanding for over 16 years with multiple culinary medals/awards & including the title of "Best Maldivian Chef"; I am very much looking forward to sharing my creations with you at your dinner table!

A hospitality degree with culinary arts conducted in a simulated hotel with fully functional multiple restaurants (including fine dining) & bars. The best thing about a hotel & culinary degree in Australia is the diversity of the cuisine due to the multi-national mix of inhabitants and therefore having the opportunity to learn about a diverse range of world cuisine and to have a strong foundation!

    The overall experience was lovely and simplified my life. Chef Samih was very efficient in the planning with me, showed up well prepared and made a 4 course meal for us that was not only delicious, the presentation was that of only top restaurants. He chatted to us too and explained the menu while guest were having cocktails. After dinner, I didn't even see chef round up and leave and my kitchen was back to the way it was before his visit. I will for sure be reusing his service soon and would recommend anyone to! Happy camper xx

    One word sums up our dinner experience with Chef Samih: superb. Once the food was served, every single course was divine especially the ravioli and the Maldivian tuna. Chef Samih was friendly, he presented himself to the guests and explained the origin of one of the dishes. Overall we give him a 10/10. He left our kitchen spotless and the guests couldn't stop raving about his food!

    I booked a dinner for 2 with Chef Samih for my husband's birthday and it was everything I hoped it will be and more! My husband is a big foodie and Chef Samih explained the ingredients, techniques and flavour profiles to us while cooking, making it a very interactive experience. And the food! The food was divine, starting with the freshest cut of Maldivian tuna, followed by home-made ravioli, lamb chops and ending with a chocolate cake straight out of heaven. Chef Samih is extremely professional and a great host who made our night one we will definitely be talking about for a long time!

    The event was a resounding success - literally come hell or high water, as it took place in the middle of a very rare stormy, windy day in Dubai (what were the chances?). This is really where a confident and CALM chef makes a huge difference. On top of this - Chef Samih has a very open and flexible attitude. This is actually what drew us to him - his enthusiasm and open mindedness to work with us, on what we expect, what we think is important - and handled all with such a positive attitude. The event was also quite extensive, starting with a BBQ Masterclass around noon, where he introduced a bunch of men (15 in total), to the world of Sous Vide. Every attendee found Chef Samih extremely knowledgeable, he made the topic very interesting and got the guys very much involved with the smoking, and really learning something new. I have to add that several of the men were actually not only foodies like us, but very well versed in the kitchen themselves - all these Chef Samih managed to handle with ease. With the stormy weather, we needed to make quick changes, and again Chef Samih seemed effortless, moved with the flow. During the party in the evening (which followed the masterclass ), the around 40 guests were very much wowed with the food. The food selection which we all agreed on turned out to be the best choices, not a single dish could be faulted, each one prepared with a special touch. Given that we could not push with the original plans because of the weather, we ended up a bit crowded (but really cozy) indoors, so quite understandable that the kitchen was a bit messier, there was a slight delay with the buffet set-up, what is worth pointing out is that Chef Samih made quick and correct decisions on what is most important. Theres is much to be said about having the best company to make a party - but to make it even more special, having the right Chef delivers that to a "T". I would not hesitate calling on him again,,, and again. Thanks Chef Samih!

    We would like to personally thank Chef Samih for his amazing culinary delights for my husband's birthday this week. We loved the food, his approach and style. We felt comfortable in our own home whilst he was there and his choice of menu was perfect for the occasion. We would recommend him to others. Thanks again Chef!

    It was our first time to hire a chef for a private event and I would say we were very lucky with Chef Samih. He was able to adapt to our budget, was acrively involved in the selection and composition of the menu and was very responsive for any further questions. On the event itself, he interacted with guests, at the same time keeping it professional in the kitchen and behind the grill. The guests loved him and his food and we, the hosts, could enjoy the evening without being stressed. In regard to the flood, he only worked with high quality ingredients, my absolute favourite was his papaya/avocado salad, my husband was very impressed with the steaks. Overall a very pleasant experience with Chef Samih, I would recommend him and book him again for next birthdays, events or maybe for a special culinary experience in a smaller group. Thank you Chef Samih for making my husbands 40th Birthday a success!

    Chef Samih hosted our family dinner of 15. Unfortunately, Chef under estimated how far my Villa was so arrived 15 minutes late but was able to still deliver the starters on time. Our 4 course meal was flavourful, mouth watering and presented in a fashion that dazzled the eye. The star of the meal was Chef Samih's Chocolate Cake...Oh my goodness...amazing does not do it justice!! I strongly recommend Chef Samih for his professionalism, tasty menu and presentation.     We highly recommend Chef Samih - it was a pleasure to have him at our home and host an absolutely delicious (!) and freshly prepared dinner. In addition Samih is very humble and donw-to-earth person and we had some great conversations about the food, dishes and other topics. We hope to repeat this experience often in the future.

    We booked Chef Samih for a small celebratory dinner for 12 at home. We selected his paleo menu and from the moment we connected until the event was finished, we had a wonderful experience. Chef Samih catered to all of our food intolerances (gluten free, dairy free) and provided several menu options for a seated dinner 4-course menu. He came prepared, was very sociable and easy going, he accommodated our delay in getting the dinner started while I took care of my newborn, he even cleaned up the entire kitchen before he left and did it all with a huge smile on his face. His food was also a big hit, especially his Rosemary Lamb Chops and his Date Cake with Caramel sauce. Thanks to Chef Samih, our dinner was really memorable and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to book a private and professional chef.

    All I can say is that it was my husband's 40th birthday and having Chef Samih cook for us and our guests was the best plan ever for this special occasion! Not only was his four course meal sumptuous but we were delighted to be served fresh cocktails all though the evening. He single handedly managed to cook for 13 diners and left my kitchen spotless! He understood exactly what we wanted for the dinner and was kind enough to offer a variety of suggestion for us to choose from. It was an evening we all will remember for a long time to come. I look forward to having Chef Samih cook for out next special occasion. Thanks a ton Chef!

    Chef Samih is a delight to have in your home and made my husband's 50th Birthday celebration a very, very special occasion indeed. From start to finish the whole engagement was fantastic. The food was amazing, he delivered everything flawlessly and made such an impression on all of my guests. We had the 5 course French menu and it was delicious. I can strongly recommend him for anyone looking to have peace of mind for their catering needs at home.

    We absolutely loved Chef Samih and would recommend him unreservedly. We approached Chef Samih to cater for a birthday dinner at our house and from our first conversation with Samih we knew we had chosen the right person. He took the lead in formulating the menu, taking special care of the dietary requirements of our guests, and suggested the wine pairings for each course. On the night Samih took the initiative to surprise everyone with some very tasty Maldivian entrees and freshly made Margaritas. The dinner was, as expected, fantastic, with Samih interacting with the guests, briefing them on each course and explaining the chosen wines. As a final surprise Chef unveiled a beautiful birthday cake (gluten- and dairy-free) for the birthday girl, something completely unplanned but very much appreciated.

    Chef Samih cooked for my family (10 adults and 3 children) over the course of one week while we were in Dubai for a celebration. I cannot praise him enough and would not hesitate to recommend his services. It’s always wonderful to meet someone passionate about what they do and Samih is nothing if not passionate about food. He was always eager to show us what he could do, which meant that not only did he serve meals from menus we had already agreed but he was always preparing additional treats and surprises for us to savour. We didn’t always make things easy for him. Imagine dealing with the changing appetites and demands of 13 hungry people every day. Yet he never complained, even we changed plans at short notice and always had a smile on his face. He was fantastic with the kids and even helped us reserve a table at a restaurant at short notice, even though it meant changing plans he had already made to serve us dinner. We had a wonderful family holiday and Samih played a huge part in making that happen. We have all gone home fatter and happier than when we arrived! Thank you Samih! I hope our paths cross again one day.

    Had a great first time experience with an in house chef. We think it went extremely well. Overall we were satisfied and we would give the chef a full mark. He is a true artiste ( which we really miss in Dubai) he is really passionate about what he does. He has all the qualities of a top chef. Food: Chef Samih does take risks with his dishes however the experience is well felt from the taste, texture, presentation. We picked the " Summer Seafood Delights menu" which was light but very nicely balanced. We would surely like to try his other specialities. Chef: having a stranger to enter your house is not an easy task. However, Chef Samih gave us all the comfort and trust to have him around us in the house. My husband enjoyed long foodies conversation. Chef Samih is respectful, gentle, professional and we would highly recommend his services.
